Free in Jesus

Romans 6:1-14 speaks to sinning still even though God has shown us more kindness, forgiveness and love.  This was intersting for me to think about and the question it brought to mind is "Do we continue to sin?"  The Bible states verbatim "Of Course Not."  Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?

Paul asks us if we have forgotten that to become Christians means to be baptived and become one with Jesus, we died with Him.  We know that the Lord forgives us of our sins if we are faithful to confess our sins.

However, the Lord of the universe does like it when we try with all we have in us to NOT sin. So what do you think?  Does this mean that we are FREE to do whatever we want whenever we want because God will forgive us if we confess it?  Again I say, of course not!  Iif you have been washed in the blood of Jesus, then you have made a profession of faith that stated you were dying to OLD things in your life and looking forward to what GOD had in store for your new life.

In that profession, we were praying that sin would lose it's power and hold on us. So what does that have to do with us?  Well, it depends ... are you still sinning?  Do you think there are things you can be doing differently?  Should you be working harder to control some of your urges that you shouldn't be doing?  Smoking, drinking, having sex, arguing with parents, skipping school?

God also says in His word that no one sin is worse than another.  So, skipping school is just as bad as murdering someone.  They are equal in His eyes.

So what is my encouragement to you in all of this? Romans 6:11  is the good part ... "So you should consider yourselves dead to sin and able to live for the glory of God through Christ Jesus."  We are DEAD to sin--HALLELUJAH!  We don't need to sin because we are dead to it.  WOO HOOO!!!!

We are free free free to live for the glory of God through Christ Jesus.  If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed.  We are free.  If you have made a profession of faith...you are free...for sure.  No more can sin rule your life.

Think about that dear ones.  It's so great to be free in Jesus.  Free to not have to be held captive to sin.  Free to not be required to do things we don't want to do...as in sex, skip school, murder etc... We aren't good enough-we aren't perfect-yet He loves us and watches over us at all times...waking or sleeping. You're beautiful precious ones.

Be Blessed this day and all to come.
