Praise The Lord... a cool story!

Recently, I met someone who writes poetry.  Sweet as she could be I was blessed beyond words when she was willing to share one of her poems with me.  She brought it over to my house and simply dropped it off and went along her merry way.

I felt a prompting from the Lord to look at it.  So, I grabbed my guitar and went into my living room hoping to get a little inspiration from the birds.  I looked at the words to the song and just started playing the guitar from my heart.  In about 10 minutes, I had written a song.  It was amazing.  I was singing it and playing it just like it was a song that I've known for 4 years.  I was stunned.  I quickly called the woman who wrote it, told her about the song and said I'd love to sing it for her.

The next day she came over and I played it.  She cried until she couldn't see straight.  I wondered something that day.  I said, “God, have I become so accustomed to writing music and lyrics that I don't value each and every one you give me?”  I didn't hear a direct no, but I do wonder about that.  Since then, I've gotten two more songs from the Lord just in spending time with Him.  I have prayed that He will keep me in line with Him and the power of music.

Music is one of the most powerful expressions of ourselves.  Someone writes a song, you hear it, it ministers to you or you hate it.  It's powerful.  An expression of love to God that you cannot convey in non-music form.  It shares the deepest part of your heart.  It shares the longings that you have in your spirit for more of God.

Take a walk on the wild side my friend.  Ask God for a song and a tune.  Then sing and hum it often—it's the heart of the true worshiper coming forth in you!  Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Blessings,

Ashley
